Club News

We have returned to In Person Meetings.

The meetings have been fabulous!

We have welcomed quite a few wonderful new members and welcomed back some members who took a break during the pandemic.

Zoom Meetings were Fun!

We were astonished to observe how many Balgowlah RSL Toastmasters thoroughly enjoyed our Zoom meetings in 2021 – spirits were lifted, public speaking skills enhanced, and connections were maintained.

Balgowlah RSL Toastmasters awarded President’s Distinguished Club Award for the 19th Consecutive Year.

This is a tremendous achievement and is the highest of three awards made by Toastmasters International to recognise and reward clubs that consistently maintain a high standard of service to their members and community.

Dr Rebecca Johnson Honoured in 2020 Queen’s Birthday Honours List

We congratulate former club member Rebecca Johnson on becoming a Member of the Order of Australia (AM). Rebecca was honoured for significant service to wildlife forensic science, and to young women scientists.

Rebecca is one of many professionals who have furthered their career through developing their speaking skills at Balgowlah RSL Toastmasters.

We wish Rebecca well in her recent appointment as Chief Scientist and Associate Director of Science at Smithsonian Institution, Museum of Natural History in Washington DC.

John Wilson DTM

Club member John Wilson was recently presented with his certificate to commemorate his becoming a Distinguished Toast Master (DTM). This award represents the highest level of educational achievement in Toastmasters.

We are proud to have John as a member of Balgowlah RSL Toastmasters.

Blue Fish Restaurant at Darling Harbour hosted a complementary celebration dinner last night for all graduates of the March Speechcraft course and their Toastmaster mentors. Blue Fish managers Zoltan and Amit graduated from Speechcraft and they, along with restaurant owner Glen, wished to acknowledge and thank Balgowlah RSL Toastmasters for delivering a top class public speaking course. We were wined and dined like royalty and Balgowlah RSL Toastmasters wish to thank Blue Fish and staff for their generous hospitality and for the delicious dishes they prepared specially for us, and Speechcraft graduate Morgan who supplied Tempus Two wines courtesy of Australian Vintage. We all enjoyed a very memorable evening.
